About me
I have dedicated 31 years to K–12 education, primarily within a small, rural Iowa district (510 students). After 16 years as a fifth- and sixth-grade English language arts teacher, she moved into serving as a K–12 computer science teacher and technology coach for the past eight years. Reflecting my commitment to educational innovation, this shift followed diverse roles in TAG and a year at the South Dakota Department of Technology. Alongside my classroom career, Shawna was a passionate volleyball, basketball, and track coach for decades. Three years ago, she transitioned from coaching to supporting sports as a basketball and volleyball official. Outside of her professional life, she is married to her husband of 19 years, Scott. Together, they have a 16-year-old daughter named Addyson and a Vizsla named Nova. Shawna loves all sports, especially pickleball, and cherishes spending time with her family.
