About me
Hello! I'm Brittany Maassen, a high school English Language Arts teacher at Sheldon Community School District. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to teach 4th grade reading, middle school reading, and now high school ELA, giving me experience working with students across a wide range of grade levels. In addition to teaching English, I also teach a Mass Media course where students explore digital storytelling, social media, and content creation. I also help manage our district's social media presence with our students, sharing the stories and accomplishments of our students, staff, and community.Outside of the classroom, I'm a proud mom to three active boys and am married to Eric, the head boys basketball coach and Activities Director at Sheldon Community School District. Our family is involved in our school community, and we enjoy supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. When I'm not at school, you'll often find me teaching fitness classes at our local heated fitness studio, reading a good book, learning something new, working in my garden, or spending time at the lake with my family. I believe in lifelong learning, building meaningful relationships, and creating positive experiences for students both in and out of the classroom.
