Iowa's House File 2676 changes the conversation about technology use in K–5 classrooms. This session explores how educators can make every minute count by examining the law, highlighting research, and sharing practical strategies to make every minute of instructional screen time purposeful, engaging, and impactful.

One of the fastest growing career categories is cybersecurity. Currently, Based on recent industry analyses, there are approximately 514,000 cybersecurity job openings in the United States as of 2026. The expected growth in the next decade is estimated around 30%. How do we prepare the students for the future? The answer, building a successful cyber program. IATechED has spent the past few years building out a nationally ranked cyber program here in Iowa. The best way to help all Iowa students is to help share Ideas on how every school can build their cyber program. We will share strategies and free training sites on how to get started, getting students engaged and in the process help build a better Cyber Iowa. From engagement to Projects, engagement is the focal point to success. 

With new screen time expectations changing the conversation around classroom technology, schools need more than a list of approved tools. They need a shared way to decide when technology is actually worth using. This session introduces the VATT framework as a practical lens for evaluating tech integration, keeping foundational learning at the center, and helping educators make stronger instructional choices.

In this hands-on session, participants will practice using formulas, functions, and built-in tools with sample datasets to uncover trends, identify learning gaps, and make informed decisions that improve instruction and student outcomes.
